Quotes ftw (Monday, December 22nd)
|
This update will have one movie quote per player. Nothing special you might think. Well, it is since I’m a n00b at quotes and nobody wants to help me… So I’m afraid I can’t make it with movie quotes alone…
Players: Oops, Jonas Knopp has rewritten his retro timeset again! He also focused on the special cup tracks. At the moment he is ranked #77 and his best new time is the RVL1 flap: #57. He’s not that bad again! (2x 2 points)
Alvaro Fababu can believe in change! Once known as a prototype for weaker motivated player, he now became an average one. Will he top or reach the top? Maybe he will be the first to do a triple PJ in MKSC… or the first to make a PJ at all! (3 points)
“Sebeny Joe Fast!!!” is a quote from MKW player Hinara on Youtube. But in fact, he is fake and I believe it is MKW player Andrew Tran. There’s only one missing page: How did he know Joe Sebeny was fast? Yeh, well, anyway, he worked on a lot of MKSC tracks. It included a subminute on MC! So who that is Sebeny Joe? Indeed, Joe Sebeny! (2x1 point)
Yunus Aricanli is an asshole. We all know that of course. He’s a hoarder too. And don’t forget him beating poor people’s WRs. What we can’t say, however, is that he is bad. Such a shame. He got #3 a while ago. Too easy! (9 points)
Ruffin Pierre or Pierre Ruffin , I still don’t get it! Pierre Muffin, mmm. Seems like he wanted to remove his times and start over again, but this site is one big database, right? Oh well. Has he got da prize? (6 points)
Pierre L'Hoest is the everlasting second (in MKSC, not SMK!!!). Seems like he got caught in Seby’s teeth. Oh well, I guess every disadvantage has its advantages. He said he practiced Flo’s new shroomstrat and his time got updated, but that isn’t allowed, right? BUT HE NEVER CHEATED AND PROMISES HE’LL NEVER DO IT AGAIN!!! (1x7, 1x 5, 1x 1 point)
On the very last moment, I saw I forgot to add Julien Cloutier-Brassard , so I quickly addet him. He’s barack in action! He keeps around the top 50, but tries to defend his top 50 spot very hard, and with a lot of success. This might be a short story to finish, but some people without brains do an awful lot of talking. (2x 3 points, 1x 8 points)
GOD time owner Florian Cholletdid well and such and ACHOO! Sorry, I must be allergic to bullshit. He is the #9, another top 10 player in the news. I think we should make news once per year so we can show we do have some activity (1x6 points)
If you’d make a formula for how Daniel Sampson is winning AF, you’d find he can become #1.. In 30 years! But still, hehe, a notable time was 1’00”91, THAT SUCKS, I GOT 53”26!!!! Since he lives in Australia and he’s still playing, does he know it’s Christmas time at all? (2x 2 points)
Andrew Howes is getting the opposite of other newbies. Simply because his RR flap is his best time. Most people say that RR flap is the hardest chart to climb on, but if everyone has that, why is that even a problem? They all say that USA is good at karting, but… Obama maybe a don, but can he play MKSC? (1x 5 points)
“Alvin, do you have a sec for Robert Szabo?” I’m free! I have no idea what’s going on with him at the moment, I see him active in every game for he lost his MKDS WRs. A bit like Karel spending ages at MK64. Yes indeed, stupid. Especially because he’s playing the only track I’m good at. Although Etch almost got owned by Flo (So am I almost 0_o), he made up his way to become #25. (1x 9 points)
There aren’t too many players that play MKSC only nowadays. Simply because the GBA is old and most players play MKSC on the DS because they like MKDS. Alan McArthur, however, is one of “those”. His best times are set at Moo Moo Breadows.. Uh no, that was Tim, Sunset Wilds, although I only said that because I had to add a quote here. More and more prs are getting him close and closer to fame… Not yet though. What a shame... throwin' away a perfectly good white boy like that...( 1x 4, 1x 10 points)
Only 3 players to go, first is almost-new-player Zack Weber. He’s one of those guys that still don’t realize the site gets updated once per 2 months, but oh well. What’s up with him, dog? He has a finished timeset, so he can now go for AF 24/7. Get AF lower than 100 first, buddy. (1x 3 points)
Veni, vidi, vici. He came, he played, he got WRs. I know MKW and MKSC are the easiest games to get WRs in, but this is just insulting for the other players (except ZZMT’ers). His name is Smolen, Mick Smolen. Here are the WRs he got past months: SGB 12”53, DP1 9”35, CI1 4”84, DP2 11”25 (NOOO!), CI2 6”49, and loads of GOD times as well. Watch out Seby! (2x 2 points)
Last but not least (standard quote): What’s that, Florian Valandina? Tastes the same, anyway. Not counting some of his weaker prs, he worked on Snow Land. 1’06”85 and 19”18 are very ok. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow… For him! (1x 8, 1x 2 points)
As you can see, this is a huge quiz, made for members of all sites. You can get 117 points in total. Submit your answers to the question: “Where is this quote from”or “From who could this be”. Some quotes are changed a bit to make it even harder. Your score will be divided by 10: You can get a note up to 10 here (since it’s pretty impossible to guess them all). Submit the times to me via email (Alvin.vanasselt@yahoo.com) or via the MB. Good luck!
That’s all, folks. I'm going to race, I'm going to lose and I'm going to die. (1x2, 1x9 points)

Banned Strategy (Monday, November 10th)
Tom @ 05:03 AM PST [link]
|
Greetings fellow karters.
It has come to light that you can get an advantageous long boost by stopping the kart, AB turning on the stop and firing a shroom mid turn.
In keeping with the overall attitude of this site being to be both non-sc and as pure racing as we can make it, it simply doesn't make sense to be driving around then to stop in order to obtain a better flap time.
Therefore it is banned. Its a nice find and I hope its exploitable for SC, but for the current charts it cannot be used.

1-10
Yunus Aricanli #3 – Yunus continues his assault to the top. He’s got Pierre in his sights and is showing no signs of slowing down. He is still somewhat off the pace of Pierre as his av fin is in the 5’s as opposed to PH’s high 2’s. He is however putting more and more distance on Ben Allen who has been relatively inactive for a while. Nice prs on RDP2 5lap 1'11"13 and RMC2 flap 0’08"00
Florian Chollet #10 –The Frenchman had a good couple of weeks, managing to cement his top ten place with some nice prs. Good to see so many prs on so many tracks at the top. There is about a 0.250 gap in av fin between himself and Alencar. Florian needs to work on his laps to sway the contest, he’s level on course times so try to get wins on the flaps (which should in theory be easier!). Nice pr on RVL1 5lap 0’42"68.
10-20
Mickael Smolen #13 – Unlucky for some but not for Michael , another top playing, active, Frenchman passed Karel to take his place near the top. He’s sandwiched between a group of SMK vets so he should try to claw back some wins there. His total time is pretty decent and Sebastien hasn’t been very active so he should catch him in another fortnight. Nice pr on RMC2 flap 0’08"07
Alan McArthur#16 - A few times from Alan and he sits comfortably behind Louis. He’s right there, so just a couple more prs to pass him to be in the top 15. Alan has had a great run since joining the site. The upper level players should start to be worried. Nice prs on RBC2 flap 0'15"20 and RMC2 flap 0'08"51.
20-30
Luca Barbetta #23 - Made a nice pr on BL 3lap 1'14"71 22"75. I’m sure he will be number 1 in 60 years! lol
Robert Szabo #26 – Roberts behind the two Kevins at the moment. He could pass Kevin if he works a bit more on his retro tracks. Careful though Robert, Harvey’s coming! Check out his double prs on RKB2 5lap 0’49"66 and0’06"75.
Nicholas Harvey #29 – Saint Nic is passed Robocop and is now after Worley. He leads Worley on the flaps but loses by about the same amount on the course times. Hence the 30 second difference on the total times. Keep up the good work, nice VL2 pr btw.
30-40
Florian Valandina #32 – Flo has been continually active in the last couple of weeks and has hit some nice times including BC1 3lap (which is never easy to pr on) as well as double prs on SG just to name a few
50-60
Joe Sebeny #50 – Half way in the top 100 and JS pulls out the biggest av fin cut of the update. Joe passed loads of players and is racing up the charts.
Julien Cloutier-Brassard #51 – JCB fought back a bit over the last two weeks but also lost a position to Joe. He got some nice times including a nice 3lap pr on RR: 0’45"23.
Alvaro Fababu #53 – Not far off that bunch is Alvaro who made a nice 3pt cut this update. The Spaniard just needs to work on a few of his weaker times to catapult him up a few places.
60+
Daniel Sampson #65 – Lots of small cuts means he passes Manuel and is now behind mk vet Stinson.
New players: Zack Weber
Awards soon.

September 23rd-6th of October
The Top 10:
Yunus Aricanli #3 – Yes, its the big news of the fortnight! Yunus makes a big cut to make number 3. He passes Ben from almost no where but is still miles off the top 2. He’ll need to continue to hit those SR’s from Sebastian! His RBC3 flap 0’12"83 for instance.
Ben Allen #4 –Ben lost a place (stating the obvious – sorry) but its not all bad news as the matchups are in his favour. His total times are significantly lower than Yunus and he leads Yunus on the course times, which in theory are harder than flaps. Work on your flaps boyo and fight for the top! Nice RBC3 double prs 1'15"43 and0’ 12"98.
Florian Chollet #10 – After passing Simon for the top 10 Florian continues to put presure on those players above him. Again, Alencar isn’t far ahead of him and the matchups are pretty close. He should work on his gba tracks to get some domincation. The number 2 Frenchman shows little sign of slowing down. Nice prs on the Vanilla Lakes too! .
10-20:
Daniel Pabst #17 - A couple of small prs from Daniel over the last two weeks including some prs on BC1 and RMC2. Can the German number 2 make a chase for the French number 2 Florian?
Mickael Smolen #19 – Michael continues his superb climb up the charts. He passed a handful of legendary players this week taking down smk vets and mkw champion Alvin in the process. He is a short step behind inactive Cole Gilbert. If his pr rate carries on then he’ll be top 10 in a month! Go! Go!! Go!!! Alvin van Asselt #20 – Alvin played ok. He kept his top 20 spot. Maybe he should get POQ........
20-40:
Robert Szabo #27 – Rob had a good couple of weeks, slowly chipping away at his times and in the end was rewarded with a nice gumps in his rank. He hit a nice time on RGV1 5lap 0’49"90 but to name a few.
Florian Valandina #34 - One of our newest players has been pr’ing like crazy over the last week and a half, he hit some great times and passed many players. He’s also trying his hand at the shortcut/no rules times too. Keep an eye on him!
60+: Joe Sebeny #60 – Joe also took advantage of his surroundings and passed a handful of players with his last cut of 2.4pts. He is on the fringe of breaking into the 50’s but needs to drop a full 5 points from somwhere!?! Nice prs on RGV3.
Daniel Sampson #67 - A nice 2.3pt cut for DS over the last 2 weeks means he has also pushed himself higher up the av fin charts. He is just behind Matthew Ord and the Australian is bearing down on the UK player. Another cut this week would see him challenging the likes of Nathan Stinson! (MK64 vet).
New Players:
Michael Tunzi, 17 from Chicago. Welcome to the site and keep kartin’! #
POW’s & POM’s: All awards updated.

Upto the 22nd! (Thursday, September 25th)
Tom @ 06:48 AM PST [link]
|
Including times and movement upto the 22nd.
Top 10: Sami Cetin #7 – Ok, so probably the biggest news is the return of the Cetin. He had some old prs laying around and he set some new ones. He’s catapaulted to 7th... for now! Some of his exploits include BC1 flap and RRR.
11-20 Yunus Aricanli #11 – Some good times from Yunus including RMC3 flap: 0’11"80.
Florian Chollet #12 – A big batch of prs from Florian including covering the BC’s.
Daniel Pabst #17 – A small batch of prs from Daniel including RMC3 5lap 1'16"35 and flap 0’12"20 RMC4 double prs and RRR double prs!
20-30 Luca Barbetta #22 – Couple of prs from Luca on his favourite course RGV1! 0’48"78 and 0’07"15. He’ll need more than that to hold off our next player..
Mickael Smolen #23 – Mickael is on fire at the moment, he made great prs over the last few weeks, his BP flap and YD times have put him right up there. He’s catching Luca! He has more wins on him, 43-35!! – but his weak courses are much weaker, its a clear case of bring all of his times into the top 20.
Robert Szabo #28 – Etch managed to hold off Nicholas for another week as he made quite a few prs. He leads Mr Harvey heavily in wins but this is largely down to the flaps. Nice prs on Ribbon Road and RGV2.
Nicholas Harvey #29 – As stated above he is quite close to Rob. He’s about 1 average finish point behind him so a few well placed prs should see him whisp past him. Some nice prs again someone playing RGV1 (surely its everyones favourite track?)
30-40 Florian Valandina #39 - The new guy in town Mr Valandina comes into the fray with some nice times to put him inside the top 40. He hit a nice flap on RP of 0’19”70.
40-50 Andrew Howes #43 – Pr on SGB 0'55"56, oh well.
50-60
Julien Cloutier-Brassard #51 - At the 2nd half of the table Julien heads up the group and strives to break into the top 50. Another week like this then he will! Nice prs on MC and PC.
Joe Sebeny #64 – Joey pulls further away from the other active player in his group Sampson. He hit some prs but they didn’t do much for his Av Fin.
Daniel Sampson #68 – On the other hand, DS took almost a full pt off his av fin and isn’t far behind Peter Buchan.

Strange that Nintendo lets us play on a ribbon... (Friday, September 12th)
|
Welcome! I assume Tom was busy again, so I decided to make one. Unfortunately, the yahoo groups are dead once per 10 mins, so I have to use the player’s list, a “technique” I don’t use very often. Still, I’m sure I’m capable of making better news than Tom last update
New world record(s)
Just because I like random orders!
Yunus Aricanli proved that he isn’t just a spammer. In order to get the new Ribbon Road f-lap WR of 22”5, he spammed the whole track! So if you see some ad boards on the track..
Players:
Not many active players as usual , but still enough comeback to talk about!
Alencar Faria made a small comeback, hitting some nice times at RiR. RiR is the most played track this month, by the way. We hope to see him more active soon!
Alvaro Fababu is one of the lowest ranked players, but I think he has a lot of courage and mood, simply because he got a lot of times, some even inside the top 50! This gives him an AF cut as usual, to land at #57, passing good ol’ pal Robin Usher. Nice BC4 f-lap! And the same counts for Daniel Sampson. A huge LOL at him saying that he could get a sub-8”20 at RGV3 while he got 8”21. Maybe we aren’t nerds after all ?
Ben Allen, our Non-ZZMT champ, submit a new time (BL 22”43), as well that he got on the Eurostar to home. Isn’t that the advantage of the Gameboy?
Joe Sebeny? Isn’t that that guy that… When did he join? Well, doesn’t matter. Err… He got some nice times, can’t see which ones, but I’m sure they give a good cut. Well done
Julien Cloutier-Brassard submit some new times. Old or new, it doesn’t matter too much. This let him improve yet again to #52, which is a nice improvement. Top 50 soon?
Luca Barbetta is the first player around the very active 10-20 region. And I’m afraid it’s pretty much the only one that focused on AF instead of WR’s. A shame, but every player counts! He got his first non-ticking times in ages. Nice 13”40 PC f-lap!!!
Mickael Smolen is pretty much the only MKW player that integrated into our culture. He got a full timeset, placed himself inside the top 30, and isn’t done yet! He got his first top-10 time at SW, later followed by a #5 5-lap at RKB1! Now we’ll just wait for his new SGB, BC3, RGV2 and RMC3 times
Nick Harvey switched to MKSC a few weeks ago. He said he wanted a few Titan times a long while ago, and he did pretty easily! He also entered the top 30, just in front of former Dutch champion Enzio Fruijtier, just behind Mick. Good game!
Although it might get a bit boring, Robert Szabo (Etch) came back as well! Okay, he might’ve been playing for longer than one month, but he came back New top 20 times, like 21”15 LC f-lap! I think he’s the next to break into the top 30!
And yet again Yunus Aricanli, who isn’t done with AF as well, looking at this BC2. Top 10 is within reach!
New players
Welcome to Florian Valandina, from France. So far he’s only missing two scores. He would probably get around the #40 spot. A very, very warm welcome to you! And welcome to Michael Sackville from Canada. Maybe just a few times from him at PC and RiR (yep…) for example. A full timeset could put his AF inside the top 100!

Down the hatch! (Friday, August 15th)
Tom @ 05:40 AM PST [link]

News:
Ok, so its been a crazy couple of weeks what with all of the contests. For those who dont often visit the message board there is quite alot of activity! The karters contest is still alive and well, lots of MKSC’ers are still left in, Florent, Fried, Pierre, Robert or Ellis, keep voting for them! In more important news the cheeseburger contest is alive and well - http://www.mariokart64.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1217002761 click there for updates and give it a try yourself! Mark “the cheeseburger destroyer” is currently in the lead but I fancy Pierre might come back with some zzmt style chomping to take back the crown (cue Benny Hill music!!). In terms of the site activity what can I say?? Other than in the last 2 weeks all of the top 3 have pr’d!
Players:
1-10: Sebastian Stellmacher #1 did the best. SR’s ahoy.
Pierre L'Hoest #2 did 2nd best. RDP 5lap SR.
Ben Allen #3 did 3rd best and got a couple of prs.
10-20: Yunus Aricanli #15 did exceptionally. Non stop pr’ing.
30-40
Nicholas Harvey #33 did amazingly. Lots of prs.
Robert Szabo #34 did superbly. A billion prs.
40-50:
Marcus Whitley #44 did Tremendously. Nice BC2 5lap.
Andrew Howes #45 did fantastically. Standard.
50-60: Alvaro Fababu #56 did excellently. Nice Bc times.
70-80: James Cassiday #73 did terrifically. With double GV prs.
Best of the rest:
Mickael Smolen - Submitted some times – get a full time sheet asap!
Drew Blumfield - Aka “The Mountain Yak” nailed RGV3 F-Lap 0’07"48.
New players:
Manuel Babjar, Germany, Age 28, welcome to the site.
POWs:
POW week 1: Yunus Aricanli POW week 2: Robert Szabo , Andrew Howes was unlucky not to get it.
