Movement

#1 Richard Karlsson got a couple of wins and suffered a couple of losses, but remained steady on sub-2.5 AF. Four of the next 5 players were active and had good weeks at the expense of #3 Aron Langerak, who dropped back 0.2 AF pts. The first among those four was #2 Hendrik Bunde, who cut 0.1. His 2.81 AF puts him within a reachable distance from Richard. #4 Andreas Rudmarker is now within 1 AF pt of Aron and almost halved his ARR score -- he could soon reach 0! #5 Marijn Jongbloed and #6 Konsta Jukka are too close to call. Marijn made a 0.5 cut and Konsta a 0.4 cut, which increased Marijn's small lead over Konsta to 0.2 AF pts.

#12 Bo Garman once against passed #13 Tristan Eyma. He's getting closer and closer to a rank promotion...

#29 Matt Tanzer passed #31 Alejandro Hernandez and #30 Luke Mulders, which means he's top-30 and now the 4th player in the US. The bronze medal spot belongs to #24 Jake Sopcak... for now. Matt's PRs included a pair of Myth A times on Mush Bridge.

#139 Alain Studer had 15 PRs to report. They were amassed over the past two weeks, mostly high Hero and low Expert scores. The Swiss player became a Hero D overall, but reported his first Titan time (BP lap) that ranks in 78th place, so he's showing potential. Alain passed 18 players, including Derek Clark, Michael Jongerius, Ahti Lampi, Michael Rosnitschek and Casey Mast. (Or, as I like to remember them: the-eliter guy, MK64-god guy, cool-name-Finnish guy, tricky-name-German guy, and could-be-girl guy).

Alain is being chased by #170 Fabien Da Silva, who matched his countryman's 20 pt AF cut with a 21 pt AF cut. He passed 27 players, including Bryan Bosshardt, Cooper Lovera, Oskar Joutsijoki, Markus Hobelsberger and Misja Fockens. (Same labels). Fabien scored a Hero C time on Rainbow Road this week, which should be a sign of things to come.

France's Thomas Mizzi looks set on his way to reaching the top-200 next week. He joined at the start of the month in 262nd place, fifty spots worse than his current #213. He passed 17 players (thanks to his 19 PRs) and has 12 more to go. He was pushed back one spot by newcomer #198 Rein Boyd, but it's not such a big set back.

Scott Dufault reported many new scores to fill in his timesheet. The young Canadian appears to be missing only one more score, which is preventing him from being ranked on the AF ladder. He's about 350th in ARR, so he should expect a similar rank on the AF ladder. Scott went from Int A to Adv B this week, mostly thanks to the replacement of Scott's default Newbie times with actual times.

Dutchie #512 Roy van Cauter seems to have contracted a mild case of the PR Smash Virus. He remained quiet for the four weeks since joining, but reported a long list of PRs two days ago. The very next day he had smashed most of those already, for a total of 23 PRs. He's probably working on a new submission right now. Roy made a 46pt AF cut and reached Intermediate B. Newcomer #525 Tom Webb is close behind Roy. The Canadian player produced a 80pt cut in his first few days on the site, coming down from near #600. Tom has improved all 32 of his scores within the past 2 days, so he's quite active.

New Records

There were 4 new records this week. All Sweden!

Andreas Rudmarker improved his own Mushroom City record. He got 1'34"28 last week, and 1'34"265 this week. Hendrik Bunde scored a 1'34"29 later in the week, so this record may soon be improved again! There are 5 players with a G+10 here, so any improvements are purely for AF purposes smile

Andreas and Richard Karlsson reported new laps in Daisy Cruiser on the same day. Richard raced 31"330, improving his old record by 0"03, but Andreas went 31"261 to deny him. It's G+6 vs G+4, and Andreas raised his WR count to 4.

Richard scored the other two records. In Bowser's Castle, a 44"906 was a 0"06 improvement over his old record. Hendrik and Aron are on 45"0. Marijn Jongbloed squeezed in between them to take 3rd place with a 45"02.
Richard's second record was 1'18"347 on Mushroom Bridge, just 0"03 faster than Vince's time from 4 weeks ago, but it broke into the G+9 standard.

POQ Award

Ryan Stevens. Alex Hantson, Konsta Jukka and Kevin Borne also received much support.

Movement

If #7 Vincent van der Fluit had plans on making a pass at the Dutch Queen #5 Marijn Jongbloed, they may have to be put on hold because #6 Konsta Jukka has just got in the way and no doubt wants to take Queen Marijn on without sharing. Marijn doesn't really get much say in which sexy beast will chase her, and King Aron is apparently not very interested in what happens (because King Richard of Sweden has a bigger crown), so it's up to Vince or Konsta to make their move. Konsta is currently 0.03 closer -- a tiny margin. Nothing Vince can't shake off.

Speaking of the French, #12 Tristan Eyma (participating in the recent MKDD Challenges, which will finally give Google a hit for French military victories) has sent in two PRs on Mario Circuit. One of them was a God time, but the bigger news for Tristan is that he recaptured the 12th position from #13 Bo Garman. Unfortunately, Tristan (and Bo, for that matter) are over 4 AF pts behind #11 Olivier Peruch, so they probably won't be advancing much further without a lot of work. Of, course, if they keep fighting each other and recapturing this 12th position, they may eventually find themselves within reach of Olivier, and reaching Olivier opens up the route to the top 10. The task seems daunting, but there's definitely some incentive there.

Speaking of the Swiss, #25 Alex Hantson made a 1pt AF cut out of four PRs. He passed three players -- Xavier, Cedric and Yannick -- all of whom were French. This puts Alex in the top-25. #24 Jake Sopcak is about 1 AF pt ahead.

#31 Matt Tanzer got ahead of #32 Mike Hartjens. He recently took over Gregor Fran's fifth place among the USA crew, and is now chasing #30 Alejandro Hernandez. There is only one position and 1 AF pt separating them. Passing Alejandro would shift the focus to the top-25 and #24 Jake Sopcak.

#79 Scott Abbey is currently the 9th ranked USA player. He started PRing again this week and will be hoping to find some momentum and catch up to #73 Jon Prentice. But he's in danger of being caught by #83 Ryan Stevens. Among the US players, Ryan is now 10th after having just passed Alan DeLoriea and Jeff Gutierrez this week. There are three places and 5 AF pts separating the pair.

Following a brief moment out of the top-100, #99 Andrew Manning made the necessary cuts to get back into double-digits. He's still chasing #94 Alessandra Martinelli, who scored her first Titan C time during the week.

#166 Patrick Hewson made a 5pt AF cut. It may not sound like much, but it passed 7 players. Pat's victims included old-schooler #167 Geoff Patterson and #168 Scott Rogoff, and MK64 deity and #171 Cooper 'the American Camera' Lovera. Top-150 seems pretty certain, but the question is 'when'?

#197 Fabien da Silva found some more time to play MKDD. He moved up another 12 places to break the top-200, as well as reached Expert B. Fabien scored 15 PRs, among them his second Hero time. #228 Thomas Mizzi had a similar size cut of 20 AF pts. All but one of his 10 PRs was Exp C, so it's fitting that Thomas also reached Exp C overall. Another player who became Expert C was #236 Alexis Moyen. Even though Alexis was passed by Thomas this week, he still beat twelve other players on the ladder.

Joining a month ago, #503 Lucas Simon-Wambach sent his first batch of times. His 10 PRs produced a 32pt AF cut, about enough to move up 36 places. He's probably going to keep playing a bit, seeing as he's so close to the top-500.

New Records

Two records, both from Andreas Rudmarker. The Swede raised his WR tally to 3, taking back the Mushroom City course record with a 1'34"287 over Richard's 1'34"37. Hendrik Bunde and Konsta Jukka both scored 1'34s later in the week. Andreas's second record was a 30"912 lap on the same course, beating Aron by 0"01.

POQ

Reminder: go vote in the poll for the April-Jun POQ award. About three days left until the poll closes.

Movement

Richard Karlsson has been added back to the site. It's Vince's job to validate him and Vince has been away for a few days, so we'll hopefully hear back from him soon about Richard's skills. So it's an official reinstatement until we hear from Vince, but Richard resubmitted his times and I don't want to take them down again.

Anyway, Richard's been playing while he was off the charts and got a bunch of new scores. He takes the #1 place on the ladder, pushing everyone down by one position. Hendrik takes #2 and Aron #3. Richard has the best AF and course totals, while Hendrik has the best ARR and lap totals. Aron is slightly ahead of Richard in ARR and has more rivalry wins than Hendrik, but trails by a couple of seconds in course totals.
Their AF scores are 2.38 vs 2.84 vs 3.22, so either #2 Hendrik or #3 Aron can try to make up the 0.5pt AF deficit and catch up to whomever is ahead. Or maybe they could both band together and strategically take down Richard's records across the board. Or they could do nothing and admit defeat. Lots of possibilities.

#12 Bo Garman and #13 Tristan Eyma had some recent activity, and despite still losing 1 AF point to Richard, they lost less than the people around them. Tristan gained a little bit of ground on Bo, now trailing by 0.03.

#23 Kevin Borne passed #24 Jake Sopcak to keep the same position he had before. In the same region, the newest Myth player, #28 Alex Hantson, moved ahead of Luke Mulders and Alejandro Hernandez. Meanwhile, #32 Matt Tanzer passed Kristopher Will and took a lead over Gregor Fran in the USA rivalry with a healthy lead over Gregor in ARR.

Ten PRs from #85 Ryan Stevens took the US player out of the mix of Europeans and shifted him 7 places ahead into a mix of Americans. Ryan passed #86 Dave Lalo, and is now up against forumites #84 Jeff Gutierrez and #79 Scott Abbey, as well as #83 Alan DeLoriea. He's now a Hero A.

#90 Florian Vaz couldn't quite keep up with Ryan, but also reached Hero A. He passed three players: #91-93 Tom Salden, Kevin Sirman and Marcel Felix. Florian is followed by #94 Max Reese and #95 Alessandra Martinelli, who moved up one and four positions, respectively. Among Alessandra's 10 PRs were 2 new Titan times, bringing her total to 5. She also scored the last of the Italian records to claim all 32.

#157 Alain Studer, who has been away since March, reported 16 new scores. Alain jumped 22 positions and no doubt helped improve Switzerland's lead in the all-player Country AF.

#173 Patrick Hewson had a busy start to this month, scoring PRs almost every day. Among his 13 PRs was a 60Hz new Hero time, bring his total to 8 Hero times on both Hz. He became an Exp A.

#209 Fabien da Silva has been spending most days on MKDS this week, but still gave MKDD a day or two attention to make 10 PRs. He passed 7 players, including MKDS rival #210 Sascha Brauninger.

Honourable mentions: #100 Andrew Manning (Hero B).

New Records

No new records set over the past week, but many of Richard Karlsson's records were reinstated. In fact, 14 of them. Some of these are new, some are old, but I'll just list them:

1'14"825 in Luigi Circuit is 0"05 ahead of Hendrik and Aron.
1'07"450 Peach Beach beats Marijn Jongbloed's record from two weeks ago by 0"07.
8"449 Baby Park shares G+10 with another ten players, but is 0"02 ahead of Hendrik.
Aron has a slight lead in Dry Dry Desert course time, but Richard grabbed the lap record by 0"005 with a 27"910. Hendrik is 0"06 behind.
Mario Circuit 1'27"334 was 0"10 quicker than Andreas, and 27"755 lap was 0"03 quicker than Aron.
Similar story in Daisy Cruiser: 1'36"543 beat Andreas by 0"17, and 31"361 beat Aron and Hendrik (tied) by 0"02.
1'34"373, a very slight win over Andreas in Mushroom City by 0"01.
Yoshi Circuit 1'40"257 compared to Hendrik's 1'40"38.
Both scores in Wario Colosseum: 1'56"737 (G+6 compared to JSX's 1'57"016 G+4), and 57"633 (G+5 compared to Hendrik's 57"75 G+4).
The last two were both on BC. 2'17"572 leads Aron by 0"2, and 44"962 lap beats Hendrik's 45"002 lap.

Richard claimed 14 WRs, reducing both Hendrik and Aron to 6. Vince remains on 4, while Andreas and Marijn have 1 each.

POQ Award

Alex @ Tuesday, July 3rd   [link]

Another 3-month period just finished, which means the Player of the Quarter award is up for grabs again. Lots of solid candidates, but who put in the most effort and is most-deserving?

Take a look at the poll and cast your vote.

132, one of the all-time highs.

Movement

Following last week's 2 WRs, #5 Vincent van der Fluit reported another 3 new PRs for a 0.15 cut. It may not sound like much, but #4 Marijn Jongbloed lost 0.1, which puts Vince within 0.3 AF pts of catching up to his Dutchie rival!

#9 Marius Mollenhauer didn't advance any positions, but he'll surely drink a few beers this week to celebrate his 1000th straight day as 60Hz champ. He too over from Brazil's Fernando Moritz dos Santos in Oct 2004. Fernando was a four-time combined champ, beating the likes of me, Paul Tanney and David Grard.

#23 Kevin Borne is the latest French sensation, powering through another 4 players this week. Unfortunately three of them were French, so France didn't gain too much from Kevin's manoeuvres, but Kevin did become the 7th Frenchman in the process. #20 Olivier Lavenant is only a few places ahead. Kevin's 0.3 ARR cut promotes him to Myth D.

#29 Alex Hantson is no doubt a major contributer to Switzerland's recent ascent to the top of the all-player Country AF, being the top among four Swiss players. Fabien da Silva's introduction gave Switzerland the required 3+ scores per course to be ranked in this crazy chart. Alex cut 2 AF pts from 5 PRs, moving past Mike Hartjens and Kris Will.

#32 Matt Tanzer's 3.3 cut gives him a clean lead over #33 Gregor Fran in the AF chart, despite still trailing in the US rivalry and head-to-head. No doubt Matt's next PRs will give him the edge there as well. He scored 6 PRs over the week, including a Myth B in Mush City; it's his best standard if we don't counting the A-tech frenzy of PB and BP (where he has 2 god times). Matt is now a Titan+!

#92 Ryan Stevens finished off the month nicely with sizable cut. This time it was 4.3 AF pts, which was enough to pass 4 players. If he doesn't only get POM, he might have a good shot at POQ as well.
In Ryan's region, #99 Andrew Manning was active but couldn't quite catch rival #98 Alessandra Martinelli.

#163 Jordon Ward passed 12 players with a 9pt cut, sending in 7 PRs after a couple of months of inactivity. He also became Exp A.

#214 Fabien da Silva made a 132 pt cut to jump 129 places. He's probably aiming for something much higher. Who's taking bets on how long it will take him to reach the top-100? Although probably not quenching his thirst much, two small bonuses for Fabien: he passed #216 Robert Szabo, and he skipped two full titles to reach Exp C.

New guy #260 Thomas Mizzi jumped several ranks as well, cutting 8 pts in ARR to get to Expert D level. I'm not sure how far he will go, but let's wait and see. He's part of the French Army, and they always have some superstar recruits...

New Records

Four WRs this week!

Marijn Jongbloed improves his own record on Peach Beach from 1'07"59 to 1'07"519, moving up from G+6 to G+7. Aron Langerak improved to 1'07"55 on the same day update, so didn't quite get the WR. The next player in line is JSX with 1'07"67.

Aron did get a new WR, though, on Dry Dry Desert. 1'29"780, a 0"08 drop. French Army vet Paul Maes is still 2nd place here with a score from over a year ago.

The other two new records were both by Andreas Rudmarker: 1'27"429 Mario Circuit and 1'34"387 Mushroom City. Unfortunately, Andreas already held both of them and so doesn't get any gains in the WR tally. His MCR is now 0"18 ahead of both Aron and Hendrik, up .11, and his MCT improved by .03 to be .05 ahead of Aron.
